    Dedham Police Salaries

    by: pete briquette

Mon Jan 12, 2009 at 18:39:53 PM EST

In 2006 one Dedham Police Officer's Salary was as follows:
    BASE PAY  $114,489,00.
    OVERTIME  $ 10,300,54.
    DETAILS   $ 71,148,00.

That's a lot of Details, but then again,"There's 24 hours in a day"!!!!

    $71k in Details (0.00 / 0)
That guy earns enough in details to hire two flagmen to watch his driveway while he works.

    YIKES!!! (0.00 / 0)
I would think 124K would be enough to make a decent living.

The 71K could hire two guys, putting two people to work in MASS and taking them off unemployment .... of course this would hurt the Police Union. We know they don't want others to work and make a living at their expense.

That can't be right!. He makes 71k on details alone?
That would pay the salaries for Two new Dedham Police Officers for a year. I don't care what union he belongs to, Mike Weir would not allow that

    It is correct (0.00 / 0)
Unless there was a typo in the Town Reports, that figure is correct.  I originally wrote of it here in July of 2007.  That was by far the largest amount paid in details.  The next closest made $49,000 and $44,000 in details, six others made in the 30s, and everyone else was below that.

As for Chief Weir not allowing it, this was during his first year at the head of the department, and he wasn't there for the entire 12 months.  The town reports for 2007 and 2008 have not yet been printed, so it remains to be seen if your theory is correct.

Brian, I'm not doubting you, it just seems like a awfully large amount for one Officer on Details. I mean how many Details or Hours would it take to generate 71k?.
Also, Don't you think The 2007 Report should be printed by now?

    I do (0.00 / 0)
We changed the time frame that the town reports are published in from a calendar year to a fiscal year, so the next town report will have 18 months worth of information in it.  That dragged it out a bit, as did losing the information on the disk and having to recover it all.

That said, I agree they should have been done by now.  Carmen DelloIacono has been asking for them at Selectmen meetings for a couple months now.  I believe they were originally intended to be distributed at the Special Town Meeting in November.

Paul Munchbach says Town Reports have just gone to Printers and will be available at the end of the month.

    MONEY FOR DEDHAM (0.00 / 0)
he probably made a lot of money for the town, doesn't a portion of the detail rate go to the town of dedham?
