    myDedham.org Policies

myDedham.org exists to foster greater community throughout the Town of Dedham, Massachusetts.  We seek to encourage discussion about the various issues and happenings around our town, provide a forum for community groups to announce events, and to connect and inform all Dedhamites.  Over time the site will become a chronicle of Dedham, recording the daily ebb and flow of 21st century life in a town founded in the 17th century.

    Civility

Everyone is welcome at myDedham.org.  Spirited discussion and debate is encouraged, but civility and community are paramount.  At the end of the day we are all Dedhamites and we must all live together in one town.  As insults, personal attacks, and rudeness in general lower the level of discussion, and interfere with the goal of greater community, they will not be tolerated.  You can disagree on an issue without attacking another person.

    Privacy

All users are encouraged to reveal their names and  information about themselves on their profile pages.  Anonymous user names are discouraged, but not prohibited.  myDedham respects your privacy and your real name and e-mail address will not be made public unless you do it yourself.

    Ratings

All myDedham.org users are encouraged to make use of the rate comment feature.  Those who consistently receive high ratings will automatically become "trusted users" and they will be allowed to give higher ratings than other users.  Comments that receive several rankings of 0 will automatically be hidden.  It is hoped that with these features enabled the myDedham.org community will moderate the discussion so the editors do not have to.

    Penalties

Users who consistently violate these policies will receive a warning from the editors.  If the behavior persists they will be banned.  Hopefully such an action will be extremely rare.

For those of us who are new at this, please provide more info on the home page about how to contribute new entries.  So far, I have found out that the formatting on the "upcoming events" did not work well until I put in many extra returns.  Otherwise, parts of my sentences were outside of the margins.  I tried clicking on "E-mail us" and immediately got my email returned as undeliverable. Every new great idea has a few "bugs" that need to be worked out in the beginning!

Can you help us out? Maybe highlight were the link is for posting a blog?

Legacy Place has been around for a year now. How do you like it?
Great! I go there all the time.
Good. I'm glad we have it, but I don't go often.
It's OK. Doesn't affect me one way or another.
Bad. It's been a net-negative for the town.
Terrible! I wish they never built it.
