    Old Avery School.

I just drove by the old Avery School and they are cleaning it out of old desks, tables, chairs, marker boards and books cases. If you interested in having a piece of old Avery history, I suggest to get there soon. You will have to dumpster dive for them.

    Perhaps? (3.00 / 1)
Do you think that maybe the Town could  have had a notice on the Dedham channel alerting people to the fact that desks etc were going to be trashed ? I am sure there are some families that would have been interested in taking a desk or table home and putting it to good use.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't (0.00 / 0)
If they indicated the items had any value beyond the landfill, there would be "why aren't they selling these items?" questions.

Value is in the eye of the beholder (3.00 / 1)
These items certainly do have value beyond the landfill, and taking them to the landfill costs money. There's no reason why material being trashed shouldn't be offered up for the taking. Selling it would have its own cost - who would oversee the sale, take the money, etc? Sometimes informal dealings are the most efficient.
