    Something Special

(Congratulations to all the girls. - promoted by Brian)

For the second consecutive year, the Dedham U14 girls soccer team has won the BAYS (Boston Area Youth Soccer) Division 2 championship and will represent BAYS at the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC), held June 26-28 at Citizens Bank Progin Park in Lancaster.  Last year's team went on to win the state Division 2 championship, and this year's team looks forward to defending that title.
    stebivule :: Something Special
The team had a 9-1-0 record in regular season play this spring, and defeated Milford-Hopedale, Concord-Carlisle and Bellingham (outscoring those teams by a combined 17-1) to earn the BAYS crown.  BAYS consists of 57 local community soccer associations in the Greater Boston area, with 44 teams fielded in Division 2.  Congratulations to all the girls and coaches Mike Browne and Mike Kelly, and best of luck in next week's finals.

I'll post link to a highlight video in the comments later, once it's cut.

*EDIT - Here's a video embed ... tough to see in smaller size, here's the Youtube link so you can see it full-screen (which is a bit better): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

    HIGHLIGHTS:
    1. Jody serves into the box, Libby heads it to Claire, who buries it in the top corner
    2. Sarah W. pots a penalty kick
    3. Libby draws a knockdown foul in the box
    4. Sarah W. converts another penalty kick
    5. Jackie drives in on the left side and lofts an absolute beauty over the keeper and into the top corner.

    BAYS CHAMPS! (4.00 / 1)
    Way to girls!

I'm certain the town of Dedham joins me in wishing you the best next weekend!  Go DEDHAM!

    Something special indeed... (4.00 / 1)
I wish you the best of luck, next weekend!

    Semi-Finalists (0.00 / 0)
Over the past two days, Dedham has defeated Lowell (4-1), Dartmouth (4-1) and Ludlow (2-0) to advance to the state semi-finals.  On Sunday morning at 8am, they will play their semi-final matchup (to be determined) for a chance to advance to the 1pm final (and a chance at a second consecutive state championship).

Many thanks to all of the team's supporters, and a special shout to Paul McMurtry for this great surprise:

And did someone ask for video highlights? Sure:

    Congrats (0.00 / 0)
The marquee is congratulating the state champs, so it looks like they played pretty well today.  Congratulations, girls!

    Poll
Legacy Place has been around for a year now. How do you like it?
Great! I go there all the time.
Good. I'm glad we have it, but I don't go often.
It's OK. Doesn't affect me one way or another.
Bad. It's been a net-negative for the town.
Terrible! I wish they never built it.
